A steel bushing is a free plain bearing that is embedded into a lodging to give a direction surface to revolving applications; this is the most widely recognized type of a plain bearing. The distinction between the three kinds is that a strong sleeved bushing is strong the distance around, a split bushing has a cut along its length, and a grasped bearing is like a split bushing however with a hold (or secure) over the cut interfacing the parts. A flanged bushing is a sleeve bushing with a rib toward one side expanding radially outward from the OD.
